The evolution of this frame began when I started building frames for a local junior development program that was based at a velodrome- the only one in northern California. I must have built over 40 of these and a few of them were ridden to medals at the nationals, even to two national titles. The design is a track frame with versatility to be at home in all the events on a typical track night- points race, miss-and-out, matched sprint. The chain stays are really fork blades that have been reshaped. This makes for a really stiff rear triangle that transfers power extremely well. The oversize steel keeps the bike from feeling ‘twisty’ in a full sprint. The slightly longer wheelbase helps keep the wheels on the ground so there is no loss of traction in violent sprints.
